Plans Shown For Small Businesses in New York City
NYC Health Insurance Link lets small businesses in New York City compare health plans sold by different health insurance carriers and through purchasing alliances. These plans include both traditional, low deductible health plans and high-deductible health plans. Additionally, all Healthy NY plans are included for businesses with employees that meet the program’s income requirements.
NYC HI Link provides small business owners with a representative sample of the many plans available to them. The plans shown come from hundreds of health plan variations and prescription drug options listed by health insurance companies on HealthConnect, the internet resource used by insurance brokers to give health insurance information to consumers.
To select plans for inclusion on NYC HI Link, each health insurance carriers’ plans were grouped by deductible (low and high deductible, including those listed as health savings account compatible) and Plan type (HMO, POS, EPO,and PPO). Within these groupings, plans were selected according to three premium cost levels: low, medium and high. Plans shown have one of the following prescription drug coverage options: no drug coverage (including those that offer drug discount cards only); a drug plan that is quoted most frequently by brokers using HealthConnect (a “most popular” drug plan); or a drug plan offered as part of a particular health insurance plan (an “embedded” drug plan). The same selection process was applied to plans offered through purchasing alliances.
NYC HI Link does not include limited benefit plans, such as hospital-only plans.
