The federal health care reform law and the New York State "Age 29" law allow parents to keep their children on their health plan longer.  Under federal law, parents can keep children on their health plan up to age 26.  Under New York law, some children can continue coverage through their parents’ plan up to age 30.

In addition, HHS has created a Facebook page to inform young adults up to age 26 and their parents about the extension of health insurance coverage provided by the Affordable Care Act.  There is a section specifically geared toward young adults and a section for parents, including what you need to know before contacting your insurer.  This new Facebook page is called “Young Adult Coverage” and can be found here.
